Privacy Policy

The short version: your conversations never leave your browser. We never collect, store, read or sell them. If you create an account or buy Pro, we keep your email and plan status so we can give you what you paid for.

What the extension does

MarkMyChat reads the AI conversation shown on the page you are viewing (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Google AI Mode, DeepSeek, Perplexity, Meta AI) and turns it into Markdown, PDF, Word, text, JSON or an image, or copies it to your clipboard. All of this happens locally in your browser.

Conversations

Not collected. The extension does not send your prompts, answers or browsing activity to any server we own or to any third party. There are no analytics, tracking pixels or remote logs inside the extension.

Stored on your device

Your vault of exported chats (in the browser's local database)
Settings: export destination, theme, auto-save, panel position
Your Pro licence key, if you entered one

This data stays on your device. Removing the extension deletes it.

Licence check

When you enter a Pro licence key, the extension sends that key (and nothing else) to Polar, our payment provider, to confirm it is valid and to count the browser as one of your 3 activations.

Website accounts and payments

If you sign in on markmychat.com, Clerk (our sign-in provider) stores your email address and sign-in method. If you buy Pro, Polar handles the payment as merchant of record and stores your billing details; we receive your email, plan and order status, never your card number. We use this only to provide Pro, send receipts and answer support emails.

Optional: Google Sheets export

If you choose the Sheets destination, you paste your own Google Apps Script URL. Exports go straight from your browser to that URL, which you own. We never see that data.

Permissions and why

Access to supported AI chat sites - to read the conversation you are viewing.
Downloads - to save the file you asked for.
Storage - to keep your settings and vault on your device.
Clipboard - to copy export output and capture clean text from a platform's own copy button.

Your rights (GDPR, CCPA)

You can ask us to show, correct or delete your account and order data at any time by emailing[email protected]. We do not sell or share personal data.

Children

MarkMyChat is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

We update the date above when this policy changes. Material changes also appear in the extension's store listing.
